Hi all.. just looking for the value of a 72 karmann super convert.   body is in good shape, floor pan appear solid..  few small chips/cracks in paint.  dime size rust around exhaust.. engine rebuilt 3 yrs ago and ran only a few miles.. (sunday drives)...   however, the car has been parked for 3 yrs in a garage and never started.. the battery is officially dead and the brakes... well.....dead tooo.....   Im also curious as to the gas tank corrosion..  you all think a car sitting this long with gas in it has done some damage.. if so, anyone know the cost of getting the tank relined?   any help/advice greatly appreciated..                                      peace out..sunny

Pricing a Bug is very subjective. That might be worth 5-8K to one person or only $500 to the next. Work your best deal around the budget that you have to spend on it. Verts are usually worth more than a sedan is in the marketplace. You can check the classifieds at http://www.thesamba.com to get a ballpark idea of what you should pay.

If the fuel tank has been full the tank might be okay inside. There are lots of places that will rebuild it for you or you can pick up a brand new one for a good price at most VW vendors. All of that gas that is in the tank has probably gummed things up, so you should take the carb off and rebuild it.
