I saw this beetle one day while driving in a city, and stopped and took a photo..
apologies for the bad light...
I think it was a rainy day...
 
 a beetle pick up may have been handy....
 
Maybe i'll see it again and take some good pics...

Yeah, aftermarket truck kit, made of fibreglass. They were popular in the late 70's-ish. I always though they were a litte revolting, but your mileage may vary, I'm a bit prejudiced against cutting up anything that can be saved.

Hi,
I have seen a few of these Pickups about over the years and they have been all steel...
One of the locals made one 3 years ago....
using VW rear fenders...
He is a metal worker/welder/machinist, so it was easy for Him...
 
Its a wonder more aren't done -
 when the body has major rust near the rear window.. roof section...
it could save the odd beetle...
I could find a lot of uses for one...
[they don't look as good as a beetle though]
