Does any body Know a good way to put on a side mirror nut.It is very hard to reach up through the door to weld on this nut.
This is on the passenger side.I have gotten new mirrors that I want to mount. When I try'ed to take the old one out I had to cut the mirror out.Because the previous owner used the wrong nut.But I now Have the right one That I ordered from vee-dub parts unlimited. But the hole on the inside of the door is about 5 inches lower than the hole on the outside where the mirror mounts.I can get the nut up to where it is supposed to be with a long pair of needle nose pliers, but i can not hold it firm enough to get the threads of the mirror to start. The nut is supposed to be welded in but i see no way to do that..Not only that the nut is made of pewter or something so you have to be real gentle with it.I broke the first one and had to order another.
finally got the mirror mounted. took it to a body shop, shuld have done it along time ago.
I am not sure how they did it but they told me they had a very good adhesive.I try'ed JB Weld .Did not hold, super glue did'nt either.About to get the windows tinted.I'll probably leave that to the pro's also.
