I was going to replace my shift rod bushing the other night, but I had to stop before I even got started. Supposedly there is an access panel in the frame head that allows the shift rod to protrude out the front of the vehicle to get it out of the bushing, but I couldn't find it.
Does anyone know where this access panel is? I've read the article on how to replace the shift rod bushing and even looked it up in the Haynes manual, but I have only seen pics on how to find it in the standard Beetles.
How do I remove the shift rod from the bushing if this access panel doesn't exist on a Super?
Please help! I really want to get this thing fixed asap, but I can't get started until I know how to get the shift rod out of the way to insert the new bushing.
Thanks for your help.
