Is there a replacement panel for the area from the battery back? Need to replace the area behind the rear seat. Any help or ideas would be great.

IIRC, they do sell 1/4 pan sections for just such a repair.

The area directly behind the rear seat is the luggage shelf and yes there is replacement sheet metal for this although it is pricey at the places I have found my car will need this area replaced when I start my resto. this is a common problem in most beetles. there are also replacement parts for the floor pans in most combinations needed for repairs

do you happen to know any vendors that carry this piece?

I did a little searching last night and didn't come up with anything myself.  My suggestion though for stuff like that is to find a junk yard that will let you in with a sawsall and take what you need.  Nothing comes close to the original German steel.  It becomes obvious when you go to weld it that even if the new stuff is as thick as the original, it's not the same.  It blows through twice as easily and isn't as firm.  --Ryan

I found this at mid america motorworks PN 301-219 listed at 179.99 but there is a note that stock is low and this truck freight . I think I have also seen this in my oe v-dub catalog but I cant find it right now . as mentiuoned before the sheet metal is not as good as original so if you have the option try to find a good donor . good luck with your search

Thanks for the replys. I found a replacement piece at rustrepair.com. I will look into getting a donor piece first, then try a replacement panel.
