had to take the duel solex carbs off my sand rail. my daughter and i went and did a little 4-whelling last week when it was really hot mid 90's, when i was just putting around the car would start to vapor-lock. the off-road exhaust pipe were running to close to the intakes. so i put the stock 34pic3 solex  on it.
i was looking today and i found the perfect air cleaner asy.it is the 3rd pic down already ordered it and on the way.

I've read that Webber's are bad for doing that too, although I haven't experienced it. For the Baja that I am building, I am going to run one stock carb on a mostly stock 1600.

yup duel's don't work that well for off-road apps. alot of people like the center mount old holley bug spray, but all i need is a stock 1 barrell for what i'm doing with her, and besides the gas prices arn't getting any cheaper

Now,
to fit that new filter so it works as well as a VW oil bath oil filter with the built in velocity stack...

You need to do this...
I made the velocity stack from PVC pipes

I'll have it back on when We get some hot weather...

Climate down here is getting cooler not hotter ...lol

Our 40C in Nov-Dec-Jan-Feb and overnight of 30C
is 30C with overnight of 8C
I love it... great VW driving weather...
