Anyone know why my wipers will not shut off? They just keep running back and forth at the same speed? Speed doesn't change either...

Just installed a new wiper switch and all connections are good? Switch works fine mechanically, but thinking it may be one of the connecters inside the switch? Don't know where else to look from here. Relay Maybe?

Thanks For Your Help

What was the reason for replacing the wiper switch? Was this problem there before or only after installing the new switch?

There is always power going to the wiper motor (up to the park switch anyway) whenever the key's on. When the  switch on the column is turned "off" it passes that power through to the slow-speed winding; when the transmission gets to the spot where they're supposed to stop, the park switch interrupts the power and slaps ground to the slow-speed winding instead, which ensures that they'll stop dead and not coast through the park position. Here's a diagram:

Apparently your park switch is broken, or the cam that operates it isn't turning on the transmission shaft, so it never realizes that it's time to stop. If you disconnect the black/grey wire that goes to Term 53a on the wiper motor they'll turn off, they just won't park automatically.

Fixed.. Thanks much for the input. Turned out it was a wiring problem..
