Hi all,

I have a tube that comes into my RR guard from the front of the guard that runs all the way through to the front of the car where it travels up to somewhere under the fuel tank It is not connected at the back but looks as though it should go to the engine compartment I cannot see a similar tube on the LHS. Is this a breather hose for the gas tank or something else?

 Many thanks

 Kevin

Are you referring to the Rt. R.fender as a guard? I'm not completely sure what your talking about. It could well be the tube that goes to the charcoal cannister that is probably no longer there. Is there a bracket or signs of where a bracket may have been mounted where the tube ends? That's the first thing I thought of when you said a tube running from the fuel tank to the back.

Hi, Yes for guard read fender(I am in NZ) and there is a round clip that is there empty. What would this have been for?

Kevin,

I agree with NoH2O. It sounds like the tube used to carry excess fuel vapors to the charcoal canister that should be mounted under the Rt Rear fender.

What he said. Excess fuel vapors from the tank were routed back there. I'm not sure what year that started on. It's not hurting anything, but you may get some fuel smell from it when the weather is warm and the tank expands. But doesn't it stay pretty warm in NZ anyway? Your best bet may be to cut it to a shorter length like inside the front trunk area and plug it off. Or you could possibly try to find a cannister for it. Not sure if anyone repops that or not, but I'm sure someone somewhere has an old one laying around.

Good Luck!
