Has anyone done one, seen one, thought of one, ideas on how to do one?

I am new to this site. I finally got a bug 1971 Super Beetle, needs a complete restore, got it for next to nothing, but I always wanted a convertible.

I've talked with a couple of people and said better off to look for a convertible, but I'm ( boyfriend lol) up for the challenge, would just be nice if I could do it with any help or tips would be great, pics to if you have em.

Well... Anything is possible but... for the cost of doing it right you would be money ahead buying a vert instead. Besides IMHO the 71 super was THE best one of any of the supers built because it looked closest to the standard Beetle. But if you are set on doing this the main thing to remember (and tell your BF) is you must reinforce the body (Verts already have a reinforcement rail installed) after you cut the top off.
