I've purchased a '75 Super Beetle and the wiring harness is shot. I've looked on line at the VW restoration sites and all I can find is the Main Wiring Harness (they indicate from the fuse box back to the engine). What am I supposed to do for the forward portion of the wiring (from fuse box to front: head lights, etc.)? New to all this, so thanks for the patience and help.

I think your best bet would be to buy the main harness and recreate the rest yourself using the current wiring as a template. You can buy the headlight pigtails separate, but that is all that I'm aware of. I have hear of people modifying a harness from a different year, but I am unsure which would be the best to use.

Hey Chuck,
I just found this site in my searching. They're based in the UK, but state that they make any VW looms (harnesses) on request. Best to email for quickest response.

This one looks to be complete, but I would confirm with them before purchasing.

As a "New-bee" to the VW restoration arena, I very much appreciate all of the input. Hopefully from what you've sent me I can continue the restoration of my '75 Super Beetle. Thanks to all. Chuck

Thanks for all the input. Here's question two: Just received the "Main Wiring Loop" (no wiring to front lights, etc.) and my questions relates to upgrading the fuse box. It was suggested that, since I'm upgrading to a new harness, I might consider upgrading the old fuse box to a new "modern" fuse box with the new fuses. Sounds like a good idea, however I'm soliciting suggestions from those who may have already done this. Where to get a buss bar, fuse box, etc. Anyone who's done this already I'd appreciate some suggestions and recommendations. Thanks in advance.
