I bought a Volkswagen Fast to put on Alvin's dash to cover the holes from the old tachometer. It does not really look right but I found something else. It would, however look really cool as the shifter knob. I don't know if drilling a hole in it is a good idea since they are collector's items. Here is a pic. What do you all think?

Drill it. Collector's item or not it's not like it's ever gonna pay for a house on the collector market

I don't know what it is, but I like using VW parts

like two tone type 3 gearshift knobs...

Show Me the holes for the tacho [pic]

You can usually find something to cover the hole up

if its a round hole You can always put another Tacho in the hole

Seems like decades ago, but when the dash started cracking after years in the hot Arizona sun I purchased a new dash cover.  It is hard plastic that matches the texture of the original.  It just cemeted over the old one and looks great.  I assume this would cover your holes.  Just a thought.

Well I decided that the fast was not worth saving forever. So, I drilled it out, JB welded a nut inside it, and put it on my shifter.

I see the first "Precaution" has already been realized from the image, lol. Hard to get a shot of something that "Fast"
Looks great! Sure adds a touch of uniqueness to your ride!
