Hi

I know you all have heard that I have my engine out -
then in-
then out-
then in - etc etc..

well, I have changed the gearbox [autostick]

and replaced one head on My 1968 single port 1600 engine

and checked, and checked and checked again..

everything is looking good...

I've replace My doghouse fan shroud and DH oil cooler
and i have an external oil cooler to fit somewhere?
I haven't really found out where to place it yet??

I found that My fan on the doghouse oil cooler was in fact
an early [thinner] fan which was on the alternator i used..
I thought that an alternator fan would be a wide doghouse item..

so, never assume

engine is in - oil filled - muffler and heater boxes to be installed tomorrow.

Muffler and heater boxes are installed...

all tinware etc installed

rear valance installed..

Engine purring like a kitten..

Best its ever been...

I did have an idle problem at first as I hadn't tightened one of the vacuum hoses hose clamps...

I have also added two chromed muffler tapered tips
so, it won't be noisy..

I know i'm going to hate that..

but the head of the household wouldn't drive My beetle as it was too noisy...

I also have two chromed pipes [no mufflers]
to use when i need that extra bit of VW engine noise....  lol..

I've driven about 130kms so far and everything is great..

and no oil leaks...

I'm very impressed with how the car accelerates

and holds the road..
