My friend wants to change his clutch disc and he is told there are two types available. The sprung and the rigid.
Can someone be kind enough to advise the difference if any of the two and any benefit of buying the particular type for his Beetle.
Thanks

Sprung is 'supposed' to engage smoother, but it's really just a crutch for people that can't drive a manual.  Sprung discs won't last as long either, the springs weaken over time and will usually give out before the lining gives out.  A rigid disc can engage just as smooth if you are used to it and will last longer since it's a single piece unit.  --Ryan
