Hi! I have a 1302s named German, we want to get an A/C kit because of hot summer weather, pouring rain causing fogged windshield, and  pollution, to metion some, is not that I don´t like to roll down the windows, I love to do it, but at night, or on a road trip, not on my commuting ride to my jobplace every weekday.

I know that some US model have came with A/C, I even have seen the A/C that the latests Mexicans models from 1999, 2000 and 2001 came with here in El Salvador. We where told that they had those A/C units installed in Guatemala, but haven´t been able to contact anybody that know how to get one. We have asked some guys that have mexicans beetles if they would sell theirs A/Cs, but so far no one has been willing to do it, guess its a precious equipment to have around here, or anywhere in that matter...

I tried to enter the link to http://www.iceac.com that Wayne wrote on a message posted to Joe on the Idle section, but as you´ll see when you click there, you will only get one page screen with a order form , that tells nothing about the product... or am I wrong?

Does somebody has order one on internet? how about instalation? taking it to an A/C specialiced shop I guess will do it?

Is there another site other than the iceac that would be recommended?

Thanks for any help about getting one !

Hmmmmm... Something is wrong with the ICE A/C website. I'm going to try and contact them and get back to you.

I noticed an ad on Samba for a new and original VW AC.   It's made for Mexi Beetles but should drop into non-Mexi types with no problem.

Thanks a lot Cobey!

The information on the site looks pretty good, is exactly what I was looking for, I recognize the parts of the Kit showed in the picture!

Hope I´ll be able to put the order and get it shipped, with no problems, I´ll get back for some comments once I´ll get the kit.

Keep beetling!

No problem!

As a side note, a buddy and I are working on a different kind of AC unit.  One that does not pull power from the motor, though it uses power from the generator/alternator.  We have a prototype working, and are fine tuning it to increase its efficiency.

That would work pretty well in a 1302, and that's really cheap for a new unit. I.C.E   A/C  and Gilmore enterprises are both around $1500 shipped. Unfortunately for us 1303 owners that under dash mount isn't made for us.

Here are pics of the type of air conditioning I am going to fit to MY Beetle before the summer gets here....

The under dash units were very common in the 70s and 80s..... in many different vehicles....

The compressor sits on the RHS of the Alternator....

instead of the left hand side....
