I have a 72 Super and I am trying to find the tubes for the fresh air /heater system. I can't find the short flex hoses that connect the plastic elbows to the heater box behind the dash.

Here's a link to a diagram that might help you find what you need http://www.1800vw.bizhosting.com/0.fresh_air_fan.sb.htm

I've looked around and you might have to go used for these parts.

Look up http://www.oldbeetle.net/pcat/T1_71.html , cut the ends off soda pop cans, wrap them around your fan box and elbow outlets and wrap them in electrical tape. Gut fahren und gut luft, beetledon

Oh yes, also look up http://www.oldbeetle.net/pcat/T1_70.html  and if you verstain Deutsch http://www.oldbeetle.com  ist sehr gut! Oh yes, since the soda pop can diameter is larger than the fan box and defroster outlet you will have to cut the soda pop can lengthwise, hold it tight around the outlets and wrap it with your electrical tape. Maybe you could find the correct diameter tin cans you need in your recycle bin. I think the air should flow faster that way than if you used the flex tubes which would have a bumpy inside surface. I did get more air coming out of my vent elbows by cutting out the vertical and horizontal plastic vanes that are aimed toward the driver and passenger, not the defroster part that has no plastic vanes.
